One of the nicest people I've met was just the other day. It was after playing through Hell's Precipice, and a few people left soon after completition, but some people who had probably just done it for the first time took a while deciding what weapon to get etc. Of these people of them were really nice, one of which just gave me huge compliments on my skill as a monk. Needless to say, that was extremely nice to hear, although probably unjustified.

Like others, I consider myself to be nice, although not by being charitable. I try to compliment people who do well in missions and stuff. At the same time there are things which cause me to not be very nice. When people do things which I regard as wrong, despite me telling them to do others, this can be anything from aggroing extra mobs, or being a caster and always rushing into mobs. Also, when people complain about dying, saying I should have kept them alive, although this definitely happens a lot less in the game than it used to. It can be quite easy to be a jerk.

In my experience if you give someone something, 9 times out of 10 they will undoubtedly pm you a dozen times in the next week: "how much gold do you have?" "can I have a sword?" "mind running me from ascalon to drok's?" "I need 20k for a mini pet" "can I have a bow?" and so on. Unfortunately this goes for some guildies too

I am one of those nice people. I am a 2+year veteran having completed all games with all my chars. I have countless times helped people thru missions (sometimes through the whole of Ascalon and Northern shiverpeaks taking no drops) offering suggestions on builds, etc. and finally add them to friends list.
A few months ago I decided to do a little experiment. I would wait a week and pm the person I helped to see how they were doing. More than 50% of them had no clue who I was or why I was pming them.

Sadly, the bottom line is Nice People in GW cannot do it for the accolades, not to be appreciated, simply because we are NICE

I'm the type of guy that always says hello and goodbye. Always give pricechecks and answer questions. If I cant do something I show them that although I cant do it, my heart is in the right place. Oh ya and buying friends fow armor is also a plus :P

Only a couple of days back I was monking for a Slaver's group. One of the people in the group was a Warrior who told me that he used to obbytank instead of ursan - and played ursan like an obbytank, which obviously resulted in some teething problems. The thing is, the first time us monks let him die (we couldn't get to him in time), I was bracing myself for a monknoob rantfest, and he cheerfully dismissed it with a "Hey, at least you tried." When the party gave him advice, he took it very good-naturedly and tried to adapt to suit the party, taking any harsh comments with a grain of salt. I cannot remember his full username, but it started with Matty. (: It was a real pleasure to monk for him. I don't meet many people like that these days.

Also thank you to the person who gave me a gold prot icon back when I started my monk in '06 - I think I still have it in my inventory. There was also a very nice group - I killed Glint with them - and upon finding out that it was my first character, they took me on a Droks' tour and gave me a lot of advice about the upcoming missions. I met a lot of people like that in the Ring of Fire missions who told me what to do and what not to do instead of being horrified that I was in the Ring of Fire for the first time. I wish I met more people like that today. (I joined post-Factions.)

Hello there everyone.

Well it seems like someone on here remembered something that I did for them some time back.

Let me start by saying that when I do something for someone it do it because I want to do it. I do not care if they remember that it was me who did it. What I do care is that they believe in a caring community that to me is Guild Wars.

When I started playing I had NO clue what was going on or how to do anything. I had never played an on-line game before let alone a MMO. I waisted lots of gold after I put a minor heath on top of my sup heath run. Dumb but what can I say.

Now I HATE several things about the players in this game. I hate it when they BEG for money so a long time ago I decided to do something about it. Get them early. Get them in Presearing. Most youth have it in their minds that they are entitled to things cause mommy or daddy gives them to them to shut them up from winning all that time. So I got an idea to help them.

So if I am in Fort Ranik and some starts to spam in local char "I need seeds give me free seeds" I respond by inviting them to my party. In team chat I type, come follow me for seeds. You can have the ones that drop for me and then you can use the ones you get and sell the rest or farm them.

There is a REALLY interesting response that I get from these people. normally it is "really, why would you do that?" or "Wow how did you get lvl 17, sure I'll go"

There seems to be an instant change from no one wants to bother with them to WOW there is someone who knows something wanting to help me? Sometimes I even get "what do you want from me". I telll them to stop spamming everyone and lets go get that stuff you need and if you want I will show you a secret." The secret of course is not really one it is just how to get ales fast.

So I run with them kill 2 bears we get legs and seeds and 4 ales. I tell them to go with me one more time. and he ends up with more seeds and 10 ales - I kill other bears - and he walks away with over 1K of ales and the legs and seeds in 15 minutes

This is good because if we can get these players to act in a certain way when they first start to play, human behavior kicks in and they will continue to play this same way. This is my hope anyway.

Same goes for charr hunting. For the fun of it sometimes I will ask someone at the fort if they want to do some charr slaying to go up in levels. Why do I go to the fort? cause this is the place that people that actually play the game go as a result of the quests and getting armor. I can show them how to pull charr using a longbow and just how the dynamics of th4e game really work.. It is very satisfying to me. As for recognition I could not give a rip.

About half an hour I saw some random dude spamming in local in some remote outpost in nf looking for 1v1 challenges. So I thought, lets see how this goes, right?

I own his ranger first round with my derv. He's totally cool about it, and pulls up his sin. He owns me 2nd round. So I roll a diff build for my derv, and own him. He pulls up another sin build and I rip through him repeatedly.

In short, after all the times he died and ways he did, you'd think he'd be a bit bitter, but he was in fact very cool and fun to talk to. We put each other on friends and said pleasant "good-byes."

Very rare indeed, especially since I had already figured him to be a noob looking to beat some random dude in a 1v1 only to further his own epeen.

-Hmm, I remember just this one time. I JUST started Guild Wars, so obviously I ran through pre in about half a second without time to think. And when I got there, people were selling runs to LA/Beacons/Yaks/Droks etc. Luckily I got a nice runner, halfway through the run he asked me how long I've been playing - so i answered him. Although he finished the run for me, at the end he said ''Go back now to Ascalon, you'll just find yourself confused and mixed up in missions and quests that aren't even where you are supposed to be.'' And he helped me for about 6 missions until i got the hang of it. I think that's the true kindness? Instead of just giving the run, advising that it's not the best option for new players.
- I also agree with alot of you by saying that Being Kind is sometimes hard. I mean I don't have any problem with answering questions in local chat. And giving that 50g to the new guy in Shing Jea, It's no sweat on me but helps them. It's just the odd arsehole that pisses me off that when you try help him/her, they just refuse to take your advice and don't listen. Mostly just asking for gold or items.

Theirs alot of cool people that I've meet. One was when only Proph was just out. We've been playing a lot every now and then. I always helped her out in need for just about anything. Not to long ago she gave me about 30 ectos for my chaos gloves lol. Of course I am ganna pay her back. Owed her a total of 80k, now down to 50k lol. Really cool person glad I meet her.
